Chinese Yoga Sintony

Despite their cultural and geographical differences, the ancient Chinese and Indian civilizations had much in common, and traveling gurus and sages between the two helped to spread and intermingle certain practices and philosophies. The art of Yoga is one such practice. While there are dozens of styles of yoga, the Taoist monks saw the benefit of elongating and strengthening postures, and practiced them in accordance with Chinese philosophies regarding the seasons and changes. It is in this mix of practice and philosophy that Chinese Yoga Sintonia was developed.

“Sintonia,” or “Sintony,” is a creative term derived from the word which means “to tune.” Through the practice of Sintonia, the goal is to better tune our bodies to be in harmony—with ourselves, our surroundings, and the universe. The Chinese Yoga classes within Pa Kua contain a mix of traditional and familiar yoga poses, meditations, and breathing exercises, all selected in accordance with seasonal changes, as well as the energetic needs of the student. The class is approachable for any skill or age level and is a great way to destress while engaging the body. The more physically adept will be challenged by a variety of advanced postures led by the instructor, while those who are looking more to shake off the stress of the day can relax and enjoy an easier set. Whatever your needs may be, Sintony can help you reach a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
